RAMADAN MARNE

Ramadan Marne is a WASH and Water Resources Specialist, Water Engineer, climate resilience practitioner, and Founder & CEO of AGRO-PRODUCT, a climate-resilience social enterprise founded in 2023 in Chad. He holds a Master’s degree in Water Engineering from the University of Tlemcen, Algeria, and a Bachelor’s degree in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria. With more than five years of experience in humanitarian and development settings, he has worked with the ICRC, INSEED, Concern Worldwide, ACTED, BETICO-CIDS Engineering Consultancy, and through IsDB-supported research, contributing to water supply, sanitation, hygiene, water quality, infrastructure assessment, emergency response, technical supervision, community engagement, research, data collection and programme implementation. With the ICRC, he supported emergency Water and Habitat interventions for Sudanese refugees in eastern Chad, including water chlorination, water trucking, domestic water treatment, emergency latrine construction, shelter and NFI assistance, while training Chadian Red Cross teams on emergency WASH practices. At INSEED, he served as a Supervisor and Trainer during Chad’s first fully digital RGPH-3, using CAPI through CSPro. He trained and supervised more than 61 field personnel, supported household mapping and identification, monitored data quality and coordinated field operations. Through BETICO-CIDS Engineering Consultancy, he contributed to the design, construction and monitoring of 50 water and sanitation structures, including boreholes, rehabilitation works, distribution systems and latrines, as well as operation and maintenance activities. His IsDB-supported research assessed water-harvesting structures and socio-economic activities in eastern Chad, including Iriba, Abéché and Abougouam, examining functionality, sustainability, cost-effectiveness, scalability and adaptability. Through AGRO-PRODUCT, Ramadan integrates solar-powered water systems, climate-smart irrigation, environmental restoration, sustainable agriculture and social empowerment to strengthen water security, livelihoods and community resilience. The initiative has supported smallholder farmers, trained producers, contributed to tree planting and environmental restoration, secured a grant from UAF-Africa , and was selected for the AFR100 Land Accelerator Programme 2025/2026, implemented by AUDA-NEPAD. His professional and research interests include WASH, environmental health, water security, climate adaptation, resilient infrastructure, sustainable agriculture, digital data systems, water-harvesting sustainability and AI-driven water management.
