Hi, I’m Florence, founder of RED-Scue® — the first nutrition product created specifically for athletes with REDs (Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport).

RED-Scue exists to address a major gap in sport: despite REDs affecting a significant proportion of athletes, there has never been a dedicated, evidence-informed nutrition solution built for their recovery needs.

The idea behind RED-Scue comes from my own lived experience. As a former Spanish national track athlete, I tore my Achilles and meniscus while unknowingly living with REDs. Like so many athletes, I was told to “eat more and train less,” without ever being given structured, specific tools to address Low Energy Availability, low carbohydrate intake, or the micronutrient deficiencies central to REDs.

That absence of real support became the reason I built RED-Scue®.

With recognition from leading innovation programmes, RED-Scue has grown from a personal problem into a validated solution. We were named Top 30 Alibaba Europe for Product Innovation, and I was honoured to receive the Women of the Future Young Star Award for this work.

Today, our first product — the RED-Scue Fuelling Jar — provides targeted carbohydrates, essential micronutrients, and research-informed ingredients to offer athletes a practical, accessible, and physiologically relevant way to support energy restoration during REDs recovery.

I’m also the Founder of Global REDs Awareness Day, certified by Sport England — held annually on November 21 to increase visibility, education, and understanding of REDs across sport, healthcare, and youth communities.

Alongside building RED-Scue®, I serve as a Level 1 Football Coach, bringing REDs awareness directly into football environments and supporting healthier, more informed athlete development from the grassroots up.
