I’m a medical doctor turned digital health entrepreneur, passionate about using technology to transform healthcare access and quality in underserved communities. My journey into entrepreneurship began not in a boardroom, but in hospitals across Kenya and China, where I witnessed firsthand the gaps in healthcare data, diagnostics, and patient empowerment.

After earning my medical degree in China, I returned to Africa to better understand the local healthcare context. During my internship at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, I saw patients carry their health records by hand—if they had any at all. This lack of continuity and access to real-time data wasn’t just inefficient; it was dangerous. It was there that the seed for Sheba Health was planted.

Sheba Health is a digital platform that gives patients ownership of their health data through biometric identity and real-time health tracking. We aim to improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce preventable deaths, and accelerate African participation in global genomic research—currently representing less than 2% of the world’s genetic datasets. Our platform is designed to work in both low-resource urban and rural settings, leveraging AI to support healthcare workers with predictive tools and better patient insights.

Before Sheba, I co-founded Quick Cart, a VC-backed fintech-enabled e-commerce startup in Kenya. We raised over $200,000 in funding and created over 200 jobs while building a tech product for everyday access to groceries. This experience taught me how to build teams, raise funding, and scale solutions from the ground up—even in volatile markets.

Currently, I serve as a Digital Product Manager at Boehringer Ingelheim’s innovation lab in Germany. where I work on AI-driven drug development and data applications in global health. My work sits at the intersection of patient-centered design, ethical AI, and emerging market innovation.

Beyond my ventures, I am committed to community-based health empowerment and youth-led initiatives, particularly in Ethiopia, where I was born. My long-term vision is to build a billion-dollar healthtech company that bridges Africa’s health data divide, while empowering local talent to be global leaders in genomics, AI, and healthcare delivery.

GEN’s platform aligns with my mission to scale inclusive innovation and collaborate across borders. I’m here not just to grow Sheba Health, but to connect, co-create, and contribute to a global movement of entrepreneurs reimagining what’s possible
