Ronald Tumusiime

Ronald Tumusiime is a dynamic leader in entrepreneurship, as a founder of ZoeNet Consult, an enterprise providing business development services to startups, NGOs, and social enterprises, Ronald has supported Organizations raising over USD 1.5M in form of grants, startup investments, and other funding facilities. Ronald is also the co-founder of the Africa Digital Access Initiative (ADAI Labz Ltd) a social enterprise bridging the digital divide in schools by providing digital learning tools to schools in East Africa using a shared model, as CEO Ronald has supported teams at ADAI Labz grow the number of schools they support to over 69 schools in two years, and grow the pool of computers to over 200 computers now. Ronald has also raised over USD 65,000 for ADAI Labz Ltd in form of grants and support. ADAI Labz has generated over USD 89,000 in revenue during Ronald's tenure. Ronald is also a CEO at Namangu Investment Ltd an agribusiness enterprise that specializes in rabbit breeding and rabbit meat processing across Africa. Ronald has supported Namangu to raise traction and expand its operations in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC Congo, South Sudan and Somalia. Ronald has also supported Namangu diversify their portfolio, venturing into crop produce supply and digital crop management system by developing crop value chain and agronomic management dashboard for farmers. Currently Ronald serves as the Programs and Operations Manager at OpenStreetMap Uganda which is a national NGO that is creating and growing a community of local mappers who provide open source geospatial data to government, NGOs, data scientists and researchers. Ronald is responsible for strategic team management. His responsibilities as a member of the executive management team at OSM Uganda include initiating and influencing organizational strategy, developing and promoting organizational sustainability programs, developing and maintaining partnerships, fundraising, and financial resources management, advocating for GIS and open-source tools, writing technical proposals, planning projects, implementing projects, monitoring, evaluating, and learning. At OSM Uganda Ronald leads and supervisors a team of 21 staff, he has supported raise over 521,000 USD in funding from grants, consultancy services and programs, Ronald initiated the "OSM in Schools program" which aims at training school going students how to become mappers in order to map their communities and use maps to advocate for better services delivery in their communities. Ronald has also initiated the "Empower Maps' ' program which aims at supporting community members especially in refugee settlements and host communities, learn more about their communities, advocate for better and equitable services delivery within the community and participate in making their communities better. At OSM Uganda, Ronald has initiated a climate action program called Micro-food forests within cities, which aims at planting micro-food forests within Ugandan cities to support in mitigating climate change impacts on urban areas and to work as a learning tool to teach the communities the impacts of climate change, and get the communities to participate in mitigating climate change effects. Ronald is also involved in technology and AI modeling; he has worked on and led AI mapping projects in Uganda. During the Copernicus 4 GEOGLAM AI Crop monitoring ground truthing mission across Uganda, Ronald supported strengthening national and sub-national level agricultural monitoring systems in GEOGLAM partner countries, by making available crop monitoring baseline products based on SENTINEL satellite data. Ronald is a former banker and microfinance credit professional where he successfully managed a client portfolio exceeding 10,000 clients and growing over UGX 2 billions financial portfolio in credit and savings. Ronald is a seasoned speaker at various conferences where he speaks mainly about youth empowerment, geospatial data, open source data and resources, financial literacy, and climate change action, Ronald has spoke at conferences like the International Conference on Sustainable Development, Africa Health Agenda International Conference, Greater Horn of Africa Regional Knowledge Sharing Event, Africa Climate Summit, Forbes 30 under 30 summit among others. During the past 13 years, Mr. Tumusiime has also worked for NGOs, finance institutions, and private companies implementing projects that address community challenges. Ronald is also a husband and a father of two. He loves children and is passionate about early childhood education and youth empowerment. He is a member of the rotary, he plays chess, he is a swimmer, and he is great at cooking and baking.
