Scott Longman

My name is Scott Marcus Longman. I was born at Princess Margaret’s Hospital in Swindon, Wiltshire on the 24th July 1973.
I spent the first few years of my life living in a small village called Lechlade, which is situated in a beautiful county of Gloucestershire.
At the age of 5 years old I attended St Lawrence Primary School in Lechlade.
In 1983 I moved to Somerset with my family.
I attended St Dunstan’s Community School in Glastonbury from the age of 11.
At 14 years old I started working part time on a dairy farm and continued working full time when I left school. Since then I have worked in a variety of roles including retail and in the licensed trade where I progressed within the company within a short period of time to a management position.
My last position before moving to London was working for a Funeral Directors for a short period of time for a gentleman called Mr Richard Holland. Working for Richard was the start of many big changes in my life, as he introduced me to life in the City of London in 1993 by inviting me to several livery functions.
As soon as I was introduced to the City of London, I fell in love with this great City instantly and knew instantly that I wanted to move here and wanted to be a major part of the way of life of The City of London Square Mile.
I had never before experienced anything as exciting, with the added advantages of the endless opportunities that this great city has to offer to anyone who wants to grasp its heritage and way of life.
I was very lucky to have the opportunity to meet some really interesting people at all the functions that I have attended and continue to do so.
In 2004 I met an amazing couple called Raymond Holl MBE and his wife Barbara, I kept in regular contact with them both. I was then honoured to be invited by Raymond to become a Freeman of The City of London. I accepted this invitation with great gratitude and in early 2005 had my ceremony and became a Freeman.
It was then brought to my attention that now I was a freeman I was entitled to join The Guild of Freeman, which I decided to take full advantage of and completed with an amazing ceremony in late 2005.
By becoming a member of The Guild of Freemen I was able to attend many prestigious functions in my own right. I was very honoured to meet a gentleman who was a liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Educators. Due to having a vast history of Educators over hundreds of years within my family history, the mutual interest gave us the opportunity to become friends. Due to my family connections to the livery, I was then offered to propose me t
