Somen Kanungo

Somen Kanungo is an enthusiastic young leader, entrepreneur, social youth activist, and changemaker who is working to build a skilled Bangladesh by addressing the country's unemployment problem by providing leadership, innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship skills among the youth. He is the Proprietor and CEO of Neptune Ships Serve & Logistics (NSSL), - which plays a pivotal role in generating foreign remittances for Bangladesh, thus contributing significantly to its economic growth.

Beyond his entrepreneurial endeavors, Somen has founded multiple non-profit platforms, including DEC - D Engineers' Club (DEC Bangladesh), Skill Development Cell, and Nextgen Bangladesh. These platforms serve as incubators for youth development, equipping young Bangladeshis with the necessary employability skills, innovation, startup knowledge, and entrepreneurship mindset to build sustainable careers and become future leaders and entrepreneurs. One of his most notable achievements is the establishment of DEC in 2013, guided by the belief that “A SKILLED NATION IS A PROSPEROUS NATION”.

Somen is playing an influential role in the global startup ecosystem as the Ambassador (Bangladesh) for the Global Entrepreneurship Congress (GEC 2025) in Indiana, USA, and was an official delegate at GEC 2023 in Melbourne, Australia. As the Official Organizer of Startup Huddle Chittagong, powered by the GEN - he actively supports early-stage entrepreneurs by providing them with mentorship and a strong professional network. He is also a National GEN Team Member of GEN Bangladesh and the National Coordinator of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) in Bangladesh.

He also served as the President (2023-24) of the Lions Club of Chittagong Tilottoma (Lions International, 315-B4) and was a Member of the Sub Committee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution at the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Additionally, he is an active member of the Society for Chittagong IT Professionals (SCITP).
As a trainer and mentor, Somen has led numerous workshops and training programs on entrepreneurship, leadership, career development, freelancing, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR). His expertise is further strengthened by Training of Trainers (TOT) certifications from SME Foundation and FES Bangladesh. His dedication to youth empowerment and economic development has earned him several prestigious accolades, including the Youth Icon Award, Young Entrepreneur Icon Award, CFHF Golden Award, and the Youth Innovation Special Award.
