Dr Veronica Broomes

Dr. Veronica Broomes is the Founder of Sustainability Support Service, a consultancy dedicated to supporting businesses with the tools and strategies to integrate sustainability considerations (environment, social, environment, governance) to achieve business goals and gain the competitive edge. Her company specializes in capacity-building training and helps businesses in the supply chains of large organisations to develop comprehensive sustainability audit reports with customised action plans and Carbon Reduction Plans for benchmarking scope 3 emissions. Through an innovative online Sustainability Audit portal, her team delivers tailored audits complete with action plans and roadmaps, enabling enterprises to boost competitiveness, enhance sustainability practices, and improve talent retention.

With over 25 years of experience spanning multiple sectors in the UK and internationally, Dr. Broomes is an authority on sustainable business development and strategic Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Her expertise includes conducting environmental and social impact assessments for diverse clients, from social enterprises and charities to multilateral development agencies and intergovernmental organizations. Dr. Broomes is author of the book "Triple Wins" that benefit policymakers, businesses, and communities alike.

Since 2022, she has served as a Business Mentor for the UK’s Help to Grow Programme and a Speaker with the Corporation of London's Small Business Research and Enterprise Centre. And, in 2024, she coordinated the inaugural online Sustainability Summit for SMEs.

A dedicated volunteer and active Rotarian, Dr. Broomes also provides new member induction talks as a direct member of Rotary Great Britain and Ireland.

Dr. Broomes hosts the Sheffield's Hidden Gems podcast, a platform she launched in 2021 to spotlight local businesses and initiatives, sponsored by Excel City Apartments. She holds professional memberships with the Institute of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (ICRS) and the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA), and has earned a PhD in Plant Science from the University of Sheffield and an LLM from The Open University.
