Theodore has a MSc degree in Architecture, Urbanism & Building sciences from TU Delft. He is specialised in Urban Area Development and he has a strong passion for entrepreneurship. He combines creativity and social empathy with analytical skills and organising capabilities, which he has been incorporating in innovative strategies and (project) designs.
Theodore is a true believer of partnerships: ''Imagine if we could link (local) entrepreneurial ecosystems to the (international, regional & local) networks of embassies & their partners! We can create high-level platforms that listen to the (local)challenges of young entrepreneurs, connect them to responsible parties and create solutions together. Such actions could subsequently lift obstacles and positively contribute to an enabling environment for entrepreneurs.''
Over the past, 4 years he has been working at various embassies in Africa, analysing startup-ecosystems and initiating support structures for young entrepreneurs by collaborating with corporate- and knowledge partners.
Currently he manages a governmental programme and provides strategic advice on entrepreneurship within the government. His team is responsible of analysing and getting a better understanding of the dynamics of startup-ecosystems in >15 African countries. These findings are then translated into new projects and the programme ‘Orange Corners’. ‘Orange Corners’ is an initiative of the Kingdom of the Netherlands that aims to support various stakeholders of the startup-ecosystem. The programme currently operates in 3 countries, but by mid-2019 the programme should be operational in >10 countries.
