Tim Scales

Tim Scales, Senior lecturer in the School of Business and Economics, also serves as the director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and the Center for Economic Education at Indiana University East.

As a School of Business Senior Faculty member, he meets with and mentors' students as they develop their business skills.

Tim, the host and executive producer of “In Your Business”, a television show Scales provides for local entrepreneurs to expose their business and no cost as a teaching tool for others. Tim has spotlighted over 500 businesses on the local cable network, WCTV. He has published several academic articles; he is the author of four business workbooks and a leader in Emerging Technologies.

Education is a primary focus for Tim. He earned a B.S. in Business at Indiana University East, an MBA from Anderson University and a Graduate Degree in Banking from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. He is also a graduate of the Disney Institute for Leadership Excellence. In addition to his degrees, Tim has a license in real estate and insurance.

Tim philanthropy is strong, and he has local endowments including the Tim Scales ACTION Fund at the Wayne County Foundation to pay for children to have a membership to attend the Boys and Girls Club for free. He is also known for the Tim Scales Entrepreneurial Scholarship at Indiana University East. Tim says there is not a better honor than to work with, and assist, a student who receives a scholarship in his name, watching his contributions making an impact in our community.

Tim serves on several boards providing community support and educational development, examples include Richmond High School Business Advisory, Civic Hall Performing Arts, Delta Mu Delta, Academy of Business Research, the SBDC regional Advisory Board, IU Innovates Advisory Board and Council for Economic Education.
