Thomas Pittz

<p>Dr. Thomas G. Pittz is an associate professor in the Lowth Entrepreneurship Center of the Sykes College of Business at the University of Tampa. He is an award-winning teacher of entrepreneurship, strategy, and innovation to executives, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral learners. He has published three books and over 30 scholarly peer-reviewed journal articles in outlets such as the Journal of Business Ethics, Small Business Economics, the International Journal of Project Management, and the Journal of Small Business Management. Dr. Pittz’ research focuses broadly on entrepreneurial ecosystems, the impact of strategic openness on innovation, international entrepreneurship, and external knowledge acquisition and exploitation. Dr. Pittz also serves as the chair of the board for the United States Association of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE), the leading national organization for advancing entrepreneurship education through bold teaching, scholarship, and practice. He has been a part of USASBE for nearly a decade, and has served as the interim executive director, treasurer, senior vice president of development, and secretary prior to leading the Board. Dr. Pittz is also heavily engaged in scholarly service as a senior associate editor for the Journal of Small Business and Enterprise Development, as a contributing editor for Entrepreneurship Education and Pedagogy, and on the editorial boards of Management Decision and the Journal of Small Business Strategy. Prior to academia, Dr. Pittz was the CEO of a Twin Cities area nonprofit organization and had a successful career as an entrepreneur in the retail industry.</p>
