Victoria Munguti

Victoria Munguti is a distinguished entrepreneur and ICT Strategist with a focus on leveraging technology to drive economic growth and financial inclusion in East Africa. She is the co-founder and CEO of HeptaPay, an innovative fintech platform that facilitates fast, affordable, and convenient cross-border card payments to mobile money wallets in East Africa, serving Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, and Burundi. HeptaPay aims to significantly reduce remittance fees and ease merchant transactions, empowering micro-payments that are crucial for the region's economies. HeptaPay is also an alumnus of the Google Africa Startups Accelerator, the CC Hub Fintech Incubation Programme and the Rwanda Fintech Program supported by the ICT Chamber of commerce Rwanda.

Victoria's entrepreneurial journey was inspired by her personal experience with high transfer fees and delays in receiving money from family, as well as the limited acceptance of debit/credit cards by local merchants in East Africa. Her vision for HeptaPay is to dissolve these barriers, enabling quick digital payments and increasing revenue for businesses by expanding their customer base. Under her leadership, HeptaPay has processed over $1 million in transactions and enabled 100 merchants to receive international payments in 2022. The company is exploring blockchain technology to further reduce transaction fees and aims to lower them to 1% across all African countries by 2030.

Beyond HeptaPay, Victoria has also co-founded Hepta Analytics, a data analytics firm. Her expertise spans ICT4D (Information and Communication Technologies for Development), market planning for high-tech products, and the strategic use of digital information to inform business decisions. She is an alumna of Carnegie Mellon University-Africa (CMU), where she earned a master's degree in Information Technology with a specialization in Data Science and Entrepreneurship.

Victoria is actively engaged in the tech ecosystem, supporting entrepreneurs through various stages of ideation, startup, and scaling. Her work has been recognized globally; she was accepted as a Cartier Women's Initiative Fellow for 2024, representing Francophone Africa, and has been featured in Forbes as one of the 33 Women Impact Entrepreneurs shaping a better future.
