christopher Chilongo

Christopher Chilongo is a National Award Winning and results oriented professional Marketer with more than 25 years combined experience in Sales and Sales Management, Distribution, Electronic and Print Advertising, Marketing Management, Marketing Research, Marketing Consultancy, Training and Education.
He was admitted Fellow of Zambia Institute of Marketing in 2008 and voted “Marketing Personality of the Year 2005’’ by The Zambia Institute of Marketing. He is also former Vice-President of the Zambia Institute of Marketing.
Christopher holds a Higher National Diploma in Marketing – a three year programme managed and administered by the Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training and examined by the Examination Council of Zambia and offered by the Evelyn Hone College of Applied Arts and Commerce in Zambia and a post graduate Diploma in Technical Education offered and examined by the University of Zambia and has been a Senior Lecturer in Marketing in Zambia preparing students on full time tuition basis for the Chartered Institute of Marketing Certificate and Diploma Examinations offered by the Chartered Institute of Marketing of the UK. He holds a Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing of the United Kingdom where he is also a member. He is also a holder of the Group Diploma in Marketing from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He also has attended several workshops and seminars in Marketing in Zambia and in Europe and holds a Trainer of Trainers For Entrepreneurship Development Programme Attendance Certificate from the Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) based in Kenya, Trainers of Trainers from the Kenya Institute of Management. He is also a Start Up Cup of USA (A Global Network) Certified Mentor for Entrepreneurs. Last year Christopher was trained and Certified Trainer of Trainers of women entrepreneurs by the African Women Entrepreneurs Program (AWEP) organised by the US State Department and facilitated by the USAID and Small Enterprises Assistance Fund (SEAF) of USA.
Christopher has worked as Director – Sales & Marketing at Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation, Marketing Manager at Zambia’s leading independent and private newspaper- The Post, National Sales and Marketing Manager at Chesebrough Ponds, Marketing Consultant at Agro Development Corporation, Founder and Executive Chairman & CEO at Scoupe International Limited, and Founder and Executive Director-Marketing at NEMCHEM International Limited.
Christopher Chilongo also worked as the Group General Manager with Astro Holdings Limited and was responsible for Corporate Affairs and Business Development .The job role was key to ensuring that Astro Holdings Group achieves its business objectives internally and externally, building the organisation’s impact and reputation and ensuring its full success. He also headed the overarching policy and communications function and establishing and managing strategic business processes, including business planning, governance and performance management.
Currently Christopher is in an Advisory role at the WECREATE ZAMBIA CENTER a US government initiative by President Obama aimed at supporting women entrepreneurs globally by providing resources and access to education, training and business tools for accelerating their businesses. At the same time Christopher runs his business; Total Water Solutions which provides technological water solutions to the consumer and Industrial markets in Zambia representing Water Works Technology Inc of Canada and GEFCO LCC of USA.
Christopher is also a Member of the US Chamber of Commerce in Zambia (AMCHAM), Board Member, National Apex Organisation For Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Association (NAFMA) and National Chairman for the Handicrafts Association of Zambia.
He participated in the 11th AGOA Conference and 6 City Zambia/US Trade & Investment Mission in the USA led by Zambian Government, AMCHAM and Private Sector June 2012 and in the Zambia Trade and Investment Mission to India and Malaysia led by Ministry of Commerce, Trade & Industry January- February 2012.

He also participated in the 10th AWEP/AGOA Forum held in Zambia in 2010 and the 12th AWEP/AGOA Forum held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in 2013 and managed the Zambian exhibition booth.

In November 2013 Christopher was key in crafting and participating in the 1st African Global Super Centre International Business Conference, Exhibition and Cultural Festival held in Reading, Pennsylvania, USA, under the auspices of AWEP Pan Africa. This attracted more than 10 AWEP African Chapters and was a huge success.

He has been passionate and instrumental in assisting other AWEP Chapters in setting up their chapters and officially launching them under Pan Africa AWEP where he is Interim General Secretary and was team leader in the facilitation of the drafting of the AWEP Zambia Chapter Strategic Plan 2012-2016.

Christopher is nicknamed “AWEP Man “in the AWEP African Chapters network and he is keen to sharing his knowledge and experiences in marketing and would like to contribute to increased trade and investments between Africa and the USA under the AGOA initiative through providing training to the AWEP African network.

In his current role as Advisor at The Women’s Entrepreneurial Center of Resources, Education, Access, and Training for Economic Empowerment (WECREATE) Project a partnership between the U.S. State Department, African Women’s Entrepreneurial Program (AWEP), Caterpillar Foundation and Start-up Cup USA., Christopher is keen to contributing to entrepreneurship development in Zambia and consequently assist entrepreneurs in creating jobs and wealth and uplifting of their standards of living
