Xolile Brukwe

Xolile Brukwe is currently occupying the position of Head: Stakeholder Relations at National Development Agency. The Unit is responsible for strategically managing stakeholder relations; resource mobilization as well cultivating and managing strategic partnerships for the entity. This is an assignment that he undertook as from May 2021.

Before that he led the Office of the Director-General at the Department of Social Development for a year, March 2020 until April 2021.

From 2015 to 2020 Xolile was Chief Director- Strategy and Operations in the Inspectorate for Social Assistance, a government component of the Department of Social Development.

From 2010 until 2015 Xolile served as Director: Stakeholder Management and Donor Co-ordination at the Office of the Director-General in the Department of Social Development

In 2009 until early 2010 he had an opportunity to serve as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Social Development.

From 2007 until 2009 he served as Director: Cabinet Affairs to the Minister of Social Development.

From 2004 to February 2007 he was Production Manager at Defence Television a sub unit of Defence Corporate Communications.

In 2002 to 2004 he was the Assistant Personal Assistant to the then Minister of Defence.

In 1994 he integrated into the South African National Defence Force from Umkhonto Wesizwe and served in various positions until the end of 2001. He was the member of the Intelligence Corps and served as Head of Explore: dealing with intelligence units of the Commandos (1998 -2001); served as External Communications Officer for Group 40 in the Western Cape (1995 – 1998) and spent time at Danie Theron Combat School in Potchefstroom doing bridging training (1994 -1995).

He has undergone an Executive Development Programme with the University of South Africa as well as Certified Director Programme with the Institute of Directors in South Africa.

He holds Masters Degree in Public Management from Regenesys School of Public Management; B-Tech Degree in Public Relation from Cape Technicon (currently known as Cape Peninsula University of Technology) and a Diploma in Public Relations from the Institute of Administration and Commerce of Southern Africa.

He attended a string of functional courses over the years. He is an associate member of the Public Relations Institute of Southern Africa.

He is married with two children.
