About The Series: Learn From a Local

Learn from a Local is a new speaker series, hosted by AgStart, a non-profit organization that supports entrepreneurs advancing innovation in agriculture, food, and health. On the 1st Thursday evening of every month, AgStart will host a local speaker from the agriculture, food, and health world to speak on a topic relevant to the entrepreneurial ecosystem. The goal is to offer a space to learn about our region and connect with local individuals while expanding the AgStart community. All events will take place in the AgStart Event Center: 1100 Main St., Suite 170, Woodland, CA 95695. An approximate event agenda is detailed above.

About Our Speaker: Matthew Perkins

Matthew is Founder and CEO of Macro Oceans, a startup transforming seaweed into low-carbon chemicals for use in materials, food, cosmetics and many other applications.

Matthew is an experienced entrepreneur, having built and sold his first company, Yield Pop, to The Climate Corporation. He has more than a decade of experience in terrestrial agriculture and was the first business hire at Inari, a gene editing technology company, where he helped raise >$100M in venture capital. When he isn’t working, he’s outside: skiing, hiking, climbing, or surfing.
