Basic Legal Considerations for Startups and Small Businesses

Founders often think that they should wait to form a business entity until they are ready to launch or receive revenue. This can be a big mistake, particularly if there are co-founders and trade secrets or other intellectual property involved in the business.  We will discuss a number of options available with respect to forming business entities. We will also discuss other common business mistakes, including not documenting arrangements between multiple owners, failing to issue equity interests in accordance with legal requirements, and exposing the founders to personal liability unnecessarily.
