GEN Cambodia launched Junior Entrepreneur Program (JEP) for 2021. To contribute to the UNSDG #4: Quality of Education and #8: Decent Work and Economic Growth as selected participants will go through series of Leadership and Entrepreneurship training; and internship opportunities inside partner companies/institutions, GEN Cambodia in partnership with Young Entrepreneurs Association of Cambodia (YEAC) with funding support from UNDP Cambodia has developed Junior Entrepreneur program (JEP) to involves youth and university students in training, leading projects and more. JEP 2021 will take places in three cities in Phnom Penh, Kampong Cham, and Siem Reap Province.
Junior Entrepreneur Program (JEP) is a program that aims to promote potential youth to market themselves in current job market during their academic lives, and empower them to make impact, and create positive changes in Cambodian’s society. JEP is designed to gather undergraduates to receive learning opportunity from professional trainers and entrepreneurs, to keep track of their learning and leading to develop themselves on both hard/soft skills, and finally, to prepare themselves for their future endeavors in finding jobs that fits their interests and potentials or embark on their entrepreneurial journey as they get the opportunity to explore self-employment and entrepreneurship as an alternative pathway to Employment. The program will as well provide provincial youth who are not in the full-time employment and training with first-time access to entrepreneurship workshops and hands-on experience with small businesses and startups.
When the program kick started in May 2021, 75 selected candidates will attend 6 training sessions on different topics including:
- Project Management (including Business Canvas Model and other Business Plan),
- 7 Habits of Highly Effective Entrepreneurs,
- DISC Behavior Assessment Tools,
- Public Speaking and Pitching,
- Digital Literacy and Business Innovation,
- Sharing session by local entrepreneurs and graduation.
While receiving training, participants will also starting their internship at the hosting companies who are willing to support youth in their growing careers. The internship will last at least 3 months for each individual.
