Envisioning Entrepreneurship

Learn how the Fort Worth Envision Center and Fort Worth Public Library support entrepreneurship in the community.

Suzanne Richards, EnVision Center Coordinator, and Katie Combs, Adult Programming Librarian, will discuss the role of entrepreneurship and small business ownership in providing opportunities for low-income residents to become self-sufficient and achieve their goals.

The EnVision Center at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center in Fort Worth’s Stop Six neighborhood is dedicated to helping individuals overcome barriers, develop job skills and achieve self-sufficiency. Opening in 2019, the Fort Worth EnVision Center is part of a federal Housing and Urban Development (HUD) project with 17 pilot locations across the country, and the first of its kind in Texas. The EnVision Center takes a holistic approach to battling poverty by providing tools and resources for individuals to improve their lives, offering small business and entrepreneurship classes in addition to health programs and housing information. 

For more than one hundred years the Fort Worth Public Library served as a community gathering place and point of entry for those who are seeking to better themselves or learn something new. With 15 locations, a full menu of virtual programming, and an extensive collection of business resources, the Library shares the EnVision Center’s goals of supporting small business and entrepreneurship opportunities for the entire community.
