In preparation for Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW-2025), the Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) Tigray secured strong support from regional media outlets to promote entrepreneurship.
The EDI-Ethiopia Tigray Regional Office hosted a media briefing with over 50 media professionals and officials from the Regional TVET and Job Creation Bureau. The aim was to align efforts and utilize media influence to enhance EDI’s entrepreneurship programs during GEW-2025 and beyond.
The event featured EDI Alumni and highlighted the role of entrepreneurship and innovation in addressing regional challenges, as noted by Gebrecherkos Yonannes, director at the Regional TVET and Job Creation Bureau. Ato Dagimawi Yohannes, EDI's Regional Coordinator, emphasized the media’s role in fostering entrepreneurship, referencing EDI Ethiopia's top-10 global ranking in last year’s GEW events and setting a goal to reach the top 3 by 2025.
Collaboration between government and stakeholders was also stressed, with a regional committee formed to drive awareness on job creation and reduce outward migration. The event included a presentation on EDI’s mission and achievements, with Haftu Haile of EDI describing this as a pivotal opportunity to foster an entrepreneurial culture.
