Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), annually the third week of November, will bring together startup entrepreneurs, businessmen and women, researchers, investors and decision makers from more than 160 countries to celebrate entrepreneurship in many different cities simultaneously.

GEW will be held from November 14-20, 2016, and will focus on several global themes, including women, investors, youth, cities, and scale-ups. These themes will highlight the high potential of Moldavian development of new companies, and encouraging the launch of new startups.

GEW Women aims to develop a network of women entrepreneurs and investors who can identify needed resources and share experiences with other women around the world. GEW Youth works to connect entrepreneurs to peers and potential investors through activities and competitions. GEW Investors will focus on investment and the opportunity of investors to work with entrepreneurs from the start to develop a strong ecosystem.

Cities entrepreneruship, or GEW Cities, aims to ensure entrepreneurs have access to resources they need locally to launch startups – which provides people with jobs, and generates income – and also develop local industries.

Business globalization, or GEW Scale-Ups, investigates the potential for companies to expand on a global level – addressing their needs and what a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem can do to support their growth.

In Moldova, GEW 2015 was supported by the Embassy of the United States, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation, Eurocredit Bank, Geia Group, VIOSER Consulting, Umbrella Studio, Academy of Economic Studies, Kentford, Poiana Winery, Education Department of the Municipality of Chisinau, Vibe Art Dance Studio, Free Balance Creative Studio, and ETERNAL.
