Global Startup Battle organizers announced the winners for the 2015 competition, with nine new startups taking first place in eight categories.

The GSB winner in the Champions track, Caleche, is a mobile application that provides real-time updates on cab rates anywhere. The app helps users find the cheapest and closest cab service near their location.

The Champions Track showcases the top startups of every city and region, and then the best compete globally. As the Champions Track first-place winner, Caleche will receive a Founders’ Trip to the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Medellín, Colombia, in March 2016. They will also receive a trip to a Startup Weekend office for mentorship, a startup launch package and custom branding materials.

Other winners included Smart Case (USA), in the innovators track; Tactile Eyesight (Latvia), in the great in the making track; LiftSync (USA), in the disruptors and big ideas track; househive (Canada), in the startup women track; UGO (USA), in the mobile growth track; Business Toybox (USA), in the open track; as well as Floop (USA) and Modern History (USA), who tied for first place in the education video and beyond track.

This year, during the weekends of Global Entrepreneurship Week – November 13 and 20 – more than 250 startups and thousands of entrepreneurs from around the world developed an innovative idea at Startup Weekend events and became eligible to compete in the Global Startup Battle (GSB).

And battle they did.

Participants came from more than 60 countries worldwide to compete in the GSB. They cultivated ideas, built new companies, networked with other entrepreneurs and dedicated 54 hours to develop the champion startups.
