How Computers Work "Under The Hood"

Have you ever wondered how computers work “under the hood?” Are you curious about inside the chips in your computer, such as the CPU or the RAM? Did you ever consider where the “Stack Overflow” site got its name from, why hexadecimal numbers exist, or what pointers really are?

Joey will take you on a tour of the inside of your computer, walking you through its building blocks and how they relate to your everyday use of your computer or smartphone. You’ll learn what your CPU actually does, why it sees the universe as a giant spreadsheet column, and what computer scientists mean when they say that to a computer, everything is a number. This will be more than theoretical — this presentation will include a quick introduction to machine language programming with working demos!
