Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), through its Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship (QRCE), in strategic partnership with the Zain Innovation Campus (ZINC), announced the launch of the 17th edition of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW). The activities, held in hybrid format both virtually and on campus, will run until the 23rd of this month.

PSUT President, Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, affirmed that entrepreneurship is a core pillar of the University’s identity and academic mission. This vision has been embodied since the establishment of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship in 2004, which serves as the University’s entrepreneurial arm and leads a comprehensive ecosystem dedicated to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in Jordan.

She added that since 2009, the Center has been responsible for hosting and organizing Global Entrepreneurship Week in Jordan, serving as the national platform that brings together entrepreneurs in a major local and international event celebrating creativity and entrepreneurial excellence. The initiative continues under the guidance and support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of PSUT’s Board of Trustees, whose vision continues to inspire excellence, global leadership, and the pursuit of sustainable development goals.

During a press conference held at the University campus, Prof. Abu Elhaija emphasized that PSUT adopts a comprehensive academic strategy closely linked to applied innovation and labor market needs. The University works to instill a culture of initiative among students and researchers by connecting them with national and international companies and institutions, and strengthening collaboration between the academic and economic sectors.

She noted that this approach is reinforced through applied curricula, innovation-driven graduation projects, specialized competitions, mentorship programs, investor networks, and research and technology partnerships that enable students to transform their ideas into viable projects and startups. PSUT has also launched several flagship initiatives such as the Venture Lab and the Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program, both designed to cultivate innovation among students and faculty, and support the development of their ideas into applicable solutions.

Mohammad Obeidat, Director of the Queen Rania Center for Entrepreneurship, stated that this year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week includes 104 activities and events, conducted in collaboration with local and international partners from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors, reaching 59 cities across Jordan.

He added that the week’s themes focus on ecosystems, education, inclusion, and entrepreneurship policy. Activities include lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and networking opportunities aimed at supporting the entrepreneurial and innovation landscape.

From his side, Tareq Bitar, Chief Communications, Innovation, and Sustainability Officer at Zain Jordan, expressed the company’s pride in its ongoing strategic partnership with the QRCE to launch Global Entrepreneurship Week. He described GEW as a major annual global event eagerly awaited by youth, entrepreneurs, and stakeholders in the entrepreneurship ecosystem to explore new ideas and innovative projects.

Bitar reaffirmed Zain’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote a culture of innovation and enhance the entrepreneurial environment in Jordan. He highlighted that ZINC will host a series of training sessions and workshops across its branches in various governorates, covering key topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, entrepreneurship, user experience design, digital transformation, and personal and entrepreneurial branding. These activities aim to equip youth with essential digital economy skills and help them transform their ideas into successful entrepreneurial ventures.
