An Affiliate of the Global Entrepreneurship Network

GEN Mauritius

GEN began working in Mauritius in 2010 when it partnered with Empretec Mauritius to organize the island’s first GEW campaign. The early campaigns focused on turning entrepreneurial ambition into practical business skills and opening doors for founders outside traditional financing, planting the seeds for more than a decade of ecosystem building. GEN and Empretec Mauritius followed up by organizing Entrepreneurial Training Workshops that applied UNCTAD's behavioral methodology and 10 personal entrepreneurial competencies. As they multiplied each November, participation widened leading to year-round work supporting entrepreneurs and coordinating the growing ecosystem. In response, GEN established an affiliate, GEN Mauritius, to carry the work forward. It works to strengthen the pipeline of local founders and connect them to capital, training, and GEN’s wider global network. It also provides policy support, including leading the development of Mauritius’ 10-Year Master Plan with the Ministry of Business, Enterprise and Cooperatives. GEN's goal is to continue connecting Mauritian founders with the knowledge, networks, capital, and policy support they need to start and scale.

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
