GEW Namibia 2022: Changing the Status Quo

The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Hon. Lucia Iipumbu applauded GEN Namibia for organizing the event celebrating entrepreneurs who have extensively contributed to the Namibian economy. She congratulated Global Entrepreneurship Network on its 15th anniversary of GEW campaigns strengthening economies around the globe. The theme of inclusiveness, education, ecosystems, and policy she said, coincides with the Ministry’s objectives for Namibia.

GEN Namibia hosted the Namibia Business Hall of Fame induction ceremony on the 19th of November, 2022.

The event that took place at Safari Court and Conference Centre in the Namibian capital city of Windhoek drew nearly 300 delegates. They included government officials, officials from the corporate world, academics, investors, and entrepreneurs.

The purpose of the induction was to celebrate and honour individual entrepreneurs and movers and shakers from the industry. There were different categories and accolades given to emerging entrepreneurs, special awards, and laurates.

Those honoured at the event were recognized for their steering contributions toward the Namibian economy.   They were presented with accolades. At this event Dr. Ester Kali, CEO of the Letshego Bank in Namibia, Dr. Martha Uumati, Managing Director of Erongo Marine Enterprises, Mrs. Estelle Tjipuka, CEO Emerge Coaching Academy, Mr. Sebulon David, Mr. Tega Shiimi ya Shiimi, CEO of Sanlam Investments Namibia, and Moses Helao, Managing Director Karakulia Weavers. 

The Minister of Industrialisation and Trade, Hon Lucia Iipumbu, was the guest of honour. She underscored the role of small businesses and start-ups in building national economies. She applauded GEN Namibia for organizing the event. She further congratulated Global Entrepreneurship Network on its 15th anniversary of operations. The theme of inclusiveness, education, ecosystems, and policy she said, coincides with the Ministry’s objectives for Namibia. Potential long-term partnerships are in the making with GEN Namibia.

On the same occasion, Ms. Helena Naitsuwe Amadhila was announced as the new MD for GEN Namibia. Amadhila took over from Mrs. Johanna Cloete, the founding MD for GEN Namibia.

On her part, the new MD thanked Mrs Cloete and her team for a job well done in supporting small businesses and startups. She pledged to build on the successes of her predecessor.
