GEN Singapore is the national affiliate of the Global Entrepreneurship Network, which operates a platform of projects and programs in 200 countries aimed at making it easier for anyone, anywhere to start and scale a business. By fostering deeper cross border collaboration and initiatives between entrepreneurs, investors, researchers, policymakers and entrepreneurial support organizations, GEN works to fuel healthier start and scale ecosystems that create more jobs, educate individuals, accelerate innovation and strengthen economic growth.
History of GEN Singapore
2008 - GEN begins operating in Singapore with the launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) an international campaign that celebrates entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship each November. In Singapore, GEN partnered with an organizing committee consisting of MTI, NUS, SPRING Singapore and ACE.
2015 - Jayren Teo, a member of the GEW Singapore organizing committee, founded the Youth Wing of ACE, which was launched by Minister of State Dr. Koh Poh Koon in 2016.
2018 - Jayren Teo stepped down as President of ACE Youth Wing (EDGE) and established GEN Singapore, an independently registered officially licensed affiliate of GEN.
2019 - GEN Singapore launched the Singapore chapter of Entrepreneurship World Cup (EWC) and brought Singapore's national champion to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the global finals.
2020 - GEN Singapore launched Startup Huddle (SH) locally.
2022 - GEN Singapore onboarded its governing Board of Directors.
2023 - GEN Singapore launched programs to benefit Southeast Asia.
2024 - GEN Singapore is Increasing its program impact via partnerships.
