Bluence

Bluence is an independent, purpose-driven initiative advancing a blue economy rooted in communities and women’s leadership. We work at the intersection of sustainability, storytelling, ocean governance, and citizen engagement to strengthen ocean- and water-connected communities and support more just and resilient livelihoods.

We protect water and life.
Bluence works with coastal, river, mangrove, and other water-connected communities to amplify local voices and support preventive, community-led action for climate resilience and early risk awareness.

Our work brings together:

  • Community storytelling that makes the invisible visible
  • Sustainable entrepreneurship and livelihoods
  • Preventive ocean governance through awareness and citizen engagement
  • Accessible tools for citizen engagement
  • Ocean awareness and intergenerational education

Bluence centers the leadership of women and the wisdom of ecosystems, connecting local realities with global audiences through care, imagination, and action.

We are part of global networks advancing ocean conservation, blue entrepreneurship, and inclusive development, such as the BlueInvest Community, OceanExpert, Ocean Culture Life, Women in Ocean Science, Women’s Aquatic Network, Whale Guardians, U.S. Early Career Ocean Professionals, Catalyst Now, the Global Entrepreneurship Network, and the International Public Policy Association.
