Islamabad November 18, 2017: Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) Pakistan and Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR) organized a Policy Dialogue on Startup Pakistan at Marriott Hotel. The Policy Dialogue brought together government organizations, technology businesses, nonprofit organizations, mainstream media and entrepreneurship ecosystem players on one table to discuss policy matters related to startups.
Mr. Kashif M Khan, Managing Director GEN Pakistan talked about Startup Nations, an initiative of Global Entrepreneurship Network USA, which has more than 65 member countries and how Startup Pakistan is linked to it. Ms. Amina Malik, President COPAIR talked about youth and entrepreneurial initiatives run by COPAIR and how they are aligned with GEN Pakistan’s programs. The introduction was followed by a moderated discussion on challenges, gaps and way forward on startup related policies and their implementation. A report based on recommendations from policy dialogue will be published by GEN Pakistan and COPAIR.
Organizations, whose representatives attended the policy dialogue are: US Embassy Islamabad, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Ignite (formerly National ICT R&D Fund), Ovex Technologies, Pakistan Software Houses Association (P@SHA), Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (SMEDA), Code for Pakistan, Norwegian Church Aid, Islamabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI), Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), National University of Science and Technology’s Technology Incubation Center (NUST-TIC), Invest 2 Innovate (i2i). Few entrepreneurs from US and UK also joined the discussion.
