Penn State University Park - Passion to Business: Turning What You Love into a Viable Business
The Happy Valley LaunchBox powered by PNC Bank Speaker Series features experts and experienced entrepreneurs who are willing to share tips, tools and processes with the local entrepreneurial community. The series is designated to provide actionable advice that helps startups avoid common mistakes and overcome common challenges.
Each workshop consists of a 40 minute interactive session with a 20 minute Q & A time to follow the speaker's presentation. Speaker events are open to the public as are office hours where individuals can sign up for 1-on-1 time with the experts. A light lunch is provided, for as long as it lasts.

Nick Gilson
Gilson American Snowboard & Ski Company
Founder & CEO
gilsonsnow.com/Nick is Founder and CEO of Gilson Snow, a manufacturer of snowboards and skis located in Winfield, PA. He graduated in 2011 from Johns Hopkins University with a degree in Earth & Planetary Sciences. He taught middle school science in Nashville, TN before launching the company out of the classroom. He has received numerous awards in innovative product development and leadership and holds several snowboard and ski patents. Gilson Snow made Wired's "Gear of the Year" list in 2015, and in 2016 the company was named as one of Outside Magazine's favorite brands born in America. In 2017, Bloomberg Businessweek profiled the company in print and digital, and in 2018, Nick was presented with the Small Business Administration's (SBA) Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Philadelphia and Eastern PA.
