GERN to Cohost Seminar on Growth Entrepreneurship During GEW

In the lead up to Global Entrepreneurship WeekGERN is partnering with the World Bank and the Brookings Institution to host a seminar exploring fundamental questions about growth entrepreneurship in developing countries.  Entrepreneurs are often hailed as “agents of change” because their innovations change societies while their businesses create jobs and boost economic development.  Yet, knowledge about the role that entrepreneurship—and particularly growth entrepreneurship—plays in developing economies remains limited.  The "From Start-ups to Scale-ups" seminar will examine entrepreneurship along key lines of inquiry including:  What impact do growth entrepreneurs have?  What conditions enable them to reach regional or global scale?  What are the best policies to support them?

The seminar will serve as a stepping-stone for a new World Bank-led study on the topic by providing participants with an opportunity to pose questions that will inform the research design.
