At GEC+Puerto Rico, the Global Entrepreneurship Network announced a new research initiative underway in partnership with Youth Business International (YBI), the only global organization dedicated to youth entrepreneurship. A Global Youth Entrepreneurship Policy Framework, outlining global trends and patterns will be launched by the partners at the YBI Global Youth Entrepreneurship Summit this October in Nairobi, Kenya. The framework, with a lens on supporting green and social youth businesses will include a set of guides that governments and ecosystem builders can follow to enable youth entrepreneurship within their communities.
Actionable recommendations on topics such as the business policy and funding environments, education and more will be tied to evidence and underpinned by policy examples and evaluations. The research supports GEN's work to identify, share and advise governments on innovative policies and programs for entrepreneur-led job creation and economic growth. For YBI this project is part of the organization’s Generation for Change initiative, which sees YBI uniting young entrepreneurs and shaping the future of youth entrepreneurship as a force for good. Youth voices will be shared throughout, showcasing young entrepreneurs changing the world as part of the YBI network.
The global entrepreneurship ecosystem is invited to submit evidence to help shape the framework and distribute an entrepreneur survey to inform the research. For more information and to submit evidence, please contact Tom Hancock, GEN Research associate, by emailing tom@genglobal.org.
