Salary Negotiation: How to Get Paid What You’re Worth

Salary negotiation is more than a paycheck. It consists of multiple aspects all of which need to be considered before and during the interview process. The size of the organization and where it is in its growth cycle has a direct influence on salary negotiation. The degree to which you are comfortable with risk and your personal financial requirements are important when considering a job at a start-up or early stage company. Determining how you compare to others with your same skills and experience establishes realistic expectations. These are some of the areas this session will address.

The purposes of this session are to examine the components of salary negotiation, define the difference between salary and compensation, expand attendees’ understanding of what is involved in the process, and gain skills required for negotiating a compensation package that aligns with their skills and experiences.

As a result of attending this session, attendees will:

1. Gain insight into the relationship between salary negotiations and where a company is during its growth cycle.

2. Be able to make an informed decision regarding the type of entrepreneurial enterprise they choose to pursue.

3. Have a set of tools for determining an accurate salary range for their specific skills, experience, and educational level.
