Innovation Challenge

The Innovation Challenge is an intensive, two-day problem-solving event on November 12th and 16th organized by the NEOM Education, Research and Innovation (ERI) Sector. ERI is building an ecosystem of schools, vocational colleges and a university to serve inhabitants and attract students from around the world.

In this event, students from around the world will compete in school-based teams (two to five students/team) to solve special Global Grand Challenges (GGC’s) confronting NEOM.  Challenges are organised around five domains: Health; Education; Environment; Water; Agriculture and Energy. For instance, challenges include how to deliver a world-class EC-12 education in a post-COVID world, solve the problems connected with high-volume desalination, manage animal conservation with minimal environmental impact, and how to build a personal health management system which ensures privacy.  These challenges have both local roots and significant global relevance and applicability.
