For six consecutive years, Innovation SL and GEN SL has proudly served as the service provider for the Orange Social Venture Prize nationals in Sierra Leone. This year's competition, like those before it, came with its challenges, but Innovation SL was no stranger to the pressures of such a prestigious event. Just two years ago, the organization’s meticulous preparation led to Sierra Leone clinching the international grand prize of 25,000 euros, earning a notable reputation within the Orange Group globally.

The journey began with an extensive marketing campaign, featuring tours and roadshows that helped popularize the competition call. With over 55 applications received, the sorting process was demanding, followed by a rigorous evaluation phase that ultimately determined the finalists. Innovation SL's team faced numerous obstacles but remained committed to ensuring that each finalist was well-prepared, offering the necessary guidance and support to help them excel.

On the day of the event, the atmosphere was charged with anticipation. The five grand prize finalists—Abdulai Barrie from Sal Agro Market, Joseph Edwin Gambai from Smart Hydroponics, Sahr Prince Malcolm Nuni from 'Ndevuyama' Wind Energy Solutions, Maada Gbayie Mansaray from Bright Tech, and Abdul Karim from Emotions SL—sat alongside the three Tech Queen finalists—Monica Jackson from Educube, Mabel Yeanoh Helen Turay from Salone Luxuries, and Cheryul Alafia Thomas from Digital Energy Grid Management. They were surrounded by an audience of experts, ministers, government officials, country directors, entrepreneurs, investors, and other key stakeholders.

Francis Stevens George, the Innovation SL CEO/ MD, also GEN SL MD, took the stage to emphasise the deep-rooted relationship between Orange SL and Innovation SL. He highlighted that the competition extends beyond the pursuit of prize money, reflecting a broader commitment to fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in Sierra Leone. He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government of Sierra Leone for enabling the ecosystem and supporting private actors building the ecosystem.

After a fierce competition, Abdul Karim from Emotions SL emerged as the grand prize winner, while Monica Jackson claimed the Tech Queen award. The event's success was a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaborative spirit of all those involved, showcasing the remarkable talent and innovation thriving within Sierra Leone's entrepreneurial community.
