Tech Talk on Climate-tech - Nov. 16 in St. Pete
The Tampa Bay region has been hosting GEW events since 2008, and this year along with other local entrepreneurship organizations, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center will support a series of activities to engage the local entrepreneurship community.
On Wednesday, November 16th, TBIC has scheduled a Tech Talk to discuss climate-tech innovations. Opportunities in climate-tech and clean-tech focus on reducing GHG emissions, supply chain waste, pollution, and other negative side effects of modern-day infrastructure, systems, and processes.
Startups that are building solutions for climate-related opportunities have a lot of problem space to choose from, and in this TecTalk, we will be discussing market drivers and the adoption criteria of large enterprise operations for climate-focused innovation.
Opportunities for innovation in the climate-tech and clean-tech space may include:
- Energy storage / energy delivery (smart-grid)
- Smart buildings & low impact development
- Smart cities & transit
- Acceleration of digital transformation
- Sustainable sources of power generation
- Marine science, monitoring, protection & restoration
- Weather monitoring & impact modeling

TBIC is hosting a 12-week accelerator program that will kick off the week of January 9th and consists of group workshops supplemented by one-on-one mentoring to help these early-stage ventures with customer discovery, product road mapping, pricing, go-to-market skills, and putting systems in place that are essential for startup success. Climate-tech companies participating in the program will be assisted in their journey by TBIC’s network of mentors as well as participating domain experts from industry partners in energy, manufacturing, science, and others.
