Build with AI - Community Build Day at Mission College

Saturday, November 14, 2026, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM at Mission College in Santa Clara. The morning opens with a DJ and breakfast, then talks from Cortney Harding, author of The Spatial Race, on being the human in the loop, Magdalena Gross, PhD, on how AI is actually built and where to stay skeptical, and founder Laura Gómez on using technology to help her community.

After a taco-bar lunch where you test-drive the tools, you pick one of four build rooms, each led by a working practitioner: AI in your home life, tools for the classroom or work, AI and your job search, or build a new business or side gig. Two coached build sprints later, you show what you made, hear technology futurist Sudha Jamthe on what comes next, and close out with the DJ.

By 4 PM you will be able to explain in plain language how AI tools work and where they are reliable, turn a recurring task into a repeatable prompt workflow, and have a working first version of a project you built yourself, plus a plan to keep going. No technical background needed. Bring a laptop and an idea. Ages 18 and up. Full agenda, speaker bios, and registration at buildoncampus.com/mission-college
