Like many of you, the GEW Global team loves a good read – particularly those that encourage and help nascent entrepreneurs launch and grow new startups. This month, two books have hit the streets that do just that – and both were written by authors that have played important roles in the development of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Jeff Hoffman, a GEW Global Board member who is a co-founder of ColorJar and was on the founding teams of Priceline.com and uBid.com, has a new book to help entrepreneurs grow their business while maintaining their sanity. Meanwhile, Linda Rottenberg, co-founder and CEO of Endeavor Global, suggests that being called crazy isn’t so bad.

Scale: Seven Proven Principles to Grow Your Business and Get Your Life Back
By Jeff Hoffman and David Finkel

Scaling a new business can seem like a daunting task but Jeff Hoffman and his co-author David Finkel have pooled their years of mentoring experience to create a must-read guide for entrepreneurs. Having successfully scaled and exited multiple businesses, Hoffman and Finkel know that the key to successfully scaling a business lies in making it less reliant on its founder. As an entrepreneur, it can be difficult to maintain a life beyond one’s business. Scale offers actionable steps to help entrepreneurs grow their ventures without sacrificing their personal freedom. Because who doesn’t want a profitable business and more free time?

Crazy Is a Compliment: The Power of Zigging When Everyone Else Zags
By Linda Rottenberg

As the co-founder and CEO of Endeavor Global, the world’s leading organization dedicated to supporting fast-growing entrepreneurs and a GEW global partner in 20 countries, Linda Rottenberg has been an important part of our network for numerous years. Thanks to her unparalleled experience, Rottenberg understands the importance of being entrepreneurial and perhaps more importantly, what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur. As the book’s tagline suggests, one can’t achieve success without taking a few smart risks along the way: "if people aren't calling you crazy, you aren't thinking big enough." Crazy Is a Compliment combines inspiring stories, original research, and practical advice to create a road map for getting started and going bigger.
