Global Entrepreneurship Week is more than just a week every year. During the other 51 weeks of the year the teams across the globe work even harder to build the entrepreneurial ecosystems in their countries. One of the lead coordinators for the GEW campaign in Zambia, Matilda Karimamusama, recently won a Barclays Citizenship Award for Individual Achievement of the Year
In addition to Matilda's work on GEW in Zambia her efforts to introduce useful business applications and training resources has seen the customer base grow from 2,330 to 5,500, and balances increase from ZK39.2m (£4.8m), to almost ZK98.7m (£12m). Her work has seen her recognised as a Zambia StartUp 2012 Judge. She also attended the the 2013 Global Entrepreneurship Congress as the delegation leader for Zambia.
The Barclays Citizenship Awards 2013 recognised and celebrated the outstanding contributions Barclays’ employees made to all aspects of Citizenship – our ‘people to be proud of’.
Colleagues were encouraged to nominate a team or individual for recognition. Achievements included examples of colleagues improving the service we provide; making a positive impact on the environment; helping individuals and businesses to grow through job creation or coaching; or supporting local communities.
