An Affiliate of the Global Entrepreneurship Network

GEN Zambia

GEN began working alongside Zambia's entrepreneurial community in 2008 when it conducted its first Global Entrepreneurship Week campaign with the World Bank Group. Momentum built quickly: the 2010 GEW campaign featured a large conference backed by the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry that drew more than 2,000 participants. As the campaign matured and attracted high-profile champions and recognition, it developed into a nationwide platform. GEN responded by establishing a formal affiliate — GEN Zambia — to carry the work forward on a year-round basis. GEN supports entrepreneurs by connecting them to global markets, and through its global programs. For example, Lusaka is home to a robust Startup Huddle chapter, which provides structured peer-to peer mentorship. As Zambia seeks to become a leading entrepreneurship hub in Africa, GEN's goals in the country are to connect Zambian founders with the networks, knowledge, capital, and policy support they need to scale.

GLOBAL SPOTLIGHT

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
