Edwin Zulu

Edwin Zulu is the Managing Director of GEN Zambia, the national affiliate of the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN), and one of Zambia’s most seasoned social entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship ecosystem builders, with over three decades of hands-on experience in SME development, agribusiness, cooperative transformation, innovation promotion, and inclusive finance.

He is the lead architect and programme driver of the Zamtel Money - GEN Zambia - Southern Province Cooperative Marketing Union (SPCMU) Agribusiness Ecosystem Partnership Initiative (AEPI), a first of its kind multi-stakeholder platform integrating cooperatives, digital financial services, agribusiness value chains, entrepreneurship development, and community owned finance. AEPI positions cooperatives as engines of rural wealth creation, financial inclusion, and local economic transformation, aligned to Zambia’s national development priorities.

Edwin is also spearheading new continental scale platforms including ELIFRA Global Africa Group Limited, focused on enterprise finance, local industrialisation, agribusiness value-chain development, and trade facilitation, as well as Tandizo Skills Connect Limited, a skills to enterprise bridge designed to connect youth, women, cooperatives, and MSMEs to market relevant skills, entrepreneurship pathways, and decent work opportunities.

Policy, Programmes & Global Engagement

Edwin has contributed to national and international development initiatives since the 1990s, including and not limited to:

• 1995 - 2000: Lead developer of the Chawana Agro Marketing Project (CAMP), a ZMK 7,000,000 agribusiness initiative in Chief Mukonchi, Kapiri Mposhi District (Central Province), focused on smallholder market access and cooperative development.
• 1999: Presenter at the 2nd National Convention on the Revitalisation of the Zambian Economy, contributing to the Vision 2025 discourse (now Vision 2030). His paper on National Agriculture Policy and Small - Scale Farming led to an invitation to Parliament, where he engaged the Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Agriculture, Lands and Cooperatives on managing cooperatives in a liberalised economy.
• 2000:World Bank Group Development Marketplace Innovations Competition finalist, Washington DC, USA.
• 2005:University of Manchester Award winner, recognising agencies supporting women-led ICT enterprises; nominated contributor to the Handbook on Agencies Supporting Women ICT Enterprises, developed in Kerala (Trivandrum), India.
• 2005 / 2006: Through ELIF Business Solutions Ltd, partnered with the World Bank Group / IFC to establish the Zambia - COMESA SME Toolkit Project, supporting SME capacity building across the region.
• 2007- 2008: Engaged by the World Bank Group at the inception of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), contributing to its early global rollout, an engagement that later anchored his leadership within the Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) ecosystem.
