Being an Entrepreneur is No Longer a Choice

New TEDx talk by Henrik Scheel from StartupExperience.com

Humanity will change more in the next 20 years than it has in the previous 300. Exponential technologies such as artificial intelligence, combined with advanced robotics, virtual reality, synthetic biology and quantum computing keep accelerating the speed of societal transformation.

Such radical changes might seem exciting to most of us, but they also represent an enormous challenge for civilization. Millions of jobs will be lost to automation and AI software, and many young people will struggle when they graduate with degrees suited for job descriptions that no longer exist.

Darwin said that in times of change only those who adapt, collaborate and improvise will effectively prevail – those are the exact skills of entrepreneurs and that’s exactly why it’s more important than ever before that we bring entrepreneurship education into the classrooms around the world. We must teach future generations to be proactive and entrepreneurial in their lives and careers.

In his latest TEDx talk, Henrik Scheel argues that entrepreneurial skills are becoming increasingly important for all of us, and that all schools ought to give entrepreneurship education the same priority as other subjects. Through Startup Experience, Scheel has worked with a group of Silicon Valley entrepreneurs to build a curriculum and course materials to be used both at the university and high school level. Scheel now invites interested GEN members to join the conversation and collaborate to build even better resources for entrepreneurship educators around the world.
