The 6th Edition of Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED) was officially launched on November 20, 2025, at the Djeuga Palace Hotel in Yaoundé, under the high patronage of H.E. Achille Bassilekin III, Minister of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts.
This year’s edition, celebrated under the bold theme “Women Entrepreneurs: Something Has To Change,” marks a decisive call to action for women to break barriers, expand their influence, and take their businesses to higher levels of innovation and growth.
A Platform for Vision and Transformation
The ceremony brought together women leaders, innovators, policymakers, financiers, and ecosystem actors. The message was clear: women entrepreneurs hold immense transformative power—yet structural challenges continue to limit their potential. WED 2025 aims to rewrite this narrative.
In her compelling address, Madam Bertha YENWO, President of the Career Advancement Women Entrepreneurship Champions Organisation (CAWEECO), urged women to pursue clarity in scaling their ventures, deepen collaboration with financial and institutional partners, and amplify the visibility of high-potential, women-led innovations.
She emphasized the need for renewed commitment from both public and private stakeholders to strengthen support mechanisms and ensure women have access to the financial, technical, and policy resources required for sustainable growth.
Government Commitment to Women’s Economic Empowerment
In his opening remarks, Minister Achille Bassilekin III reaffirmed the central role of women in the national economy.
He highlighted their capacity to generate wealth, create jobs, and energize communities, making them indispensable to the success of Cameroon’s economic development policies.
The Minister announced concrete government actions aimed at addressing persistent obstacles faced by women entrepreneurs—promising immediate, effective, and structural solutions to help bridge the gender gap in business and opportunity.
Creativity and Innovation on Display
The ceremony also featured a vibrant showcase of women-led products, services, and innovations. From handcrafted goods to technology-driven solutions, exhibitors demonstrated resilience, originality, and leadership—capturing the admiration of the Minister, his delegation, and attendees.
These dynamic displays reinforced the enormous potential of women entrepreneurs to accelerate national economic growth and drive sustainable impact.
A Renewed Momentum for Women Entrepreneurs
Women’s Entrepreneurship Day 2025 stands as a rallying point for collective action—government, private sector, and civil society—toward building an inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial ecosystem.
With renewed energy and bold commitments, this edition marks a turning point: the rise of women entrepreneurs as champions of innovation, change, and economic transformation in Cameroon.
