This year’s Global Entrepreneurship Week events and organizers increased in Sudan -- adding new startup competitions -- for the country's second year participating in GEW celebrations.

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Community hosted GEW Sudan, and featured 10 main events, including three Global Picks – the Future Agro Challenge, Get in the Ring and Startup Weekend.

They also featured Startup Grind Khartoum and Startup Juniors Khartoum, had activities at more than four universities and facilitated region programs in five different states. There were also panel discussions that covered policies, funding and legal aid, and were sponsored in collaboration with Impact Hub Khartoum.

GEW Sudan also conducted a survey on entrepreneurship awareness in the country, by using a mobile application to analyze data. The survey was conducted in collaboration with Moeen ICT.

The country had more than 3,000 visitors attend events in person, with an estimated 60,000 people viewing the content online or learning about GEW from local and international coverage on television and radio stations. Other sponsors included the Ministry of ICT and Telecommunication, the Ministry of Social Responsibility, Sudani Telecom Company, Aviation Research Center, Ericsson Sudan and Samsung.

Winners of the first Get in the Ring competition will travel to Morocco for the regional finals, and GEW Sudan produced a video of the GITR Sudan competition.

There is also a video illustrating the Startup Weekend events in Khartoum on day two of the competition and live learning workspace.
