It was a great pleasure to be invited to give a keynote speech at the opening of Cyberport’s Pitching Day at the start of Global Entrepreneurship Week in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s Cyberport Management Company Limited has been the principal organizer of GEW China – HK,  since 2014.  Its aim is to encourage the local digital tech startup community partners and is the main host of startup events during the week. This year, there were approximately 12 events and 42 partners and supporting organizations joining in with the GEW China – HK week.

Before the pitching event, myself and Edith Yeung, partner of 500 Mobile Collective, gave short keynote speeches, I gave an overview of the Global Entrepreneurship Network and the events happening in GEW during 2016, and Yeung gave an interesting insight into investment trends in Silicon Valley, with a focus technology. The pitching event featured 12 of Cyberport’s incubatees, each competing to be one of the three winners.  The final three selected were:

  • Bonnect – www.bonnect.hk – offering IT solutions to enhance a baby’s feeding experience and health development
  • MAST Education – www.masteducation.com – an online education platform that connects students with tutors who help them to excel in their Advanced Placement subjects
  • EX MORE ltd – www.heycoins.com – a chain kiosk that collects physical coins and exchanges online values for various purposes, including e-wallet recharge, membership card top-ups, e-cash coupons and donations.
