During Global Entrepreneurship Week this November, GEW Germany – which has been a part of the global celebrations since 2008, has created a slate of programs and activities this year to make GEW 2016 better than ever.
Germany works with more than 1,000 partners to bring GEW to the country, and already has more than 1,500 events and programs scheduled for the week, spread out all around the country. The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy is GEW Germany’s official host organizaiton. Germany is the reigning winner of the Compass Award for GEW Country of the Year, recognized for their excellent campaign and innovative programs during the week and year-round.
A department within RKW Kompetenzzentrum recently published a guidebook with the title “Founding a Company in Germany: Information and Advice for International Skilled Workers, Migrants and Refugees,” which will help fuel discussions and roundtable talks across the country during GEW. The guidebook was published in both German and English, and includes good advice on how to build a business in the country, financing, business plans, and legal forms. You can download a copy here.
The subject of migrants and refugees will be one of the key topics that GEW Germany will tackle this November, along with the GEW Themes of cities, youth, women, investors and scale-ups. Another topic GEW Germany will be discussing is senior entrepreneurs. This past summer RKW Kompetenzzentrum also produced a guidebook on the counseling of senior entrepreneurs, which was in high demand. Find the German copy here.
GEW Germany will also be participating in a series of international pitch competitions, including Creative Business Cup, Get in the Ring, and Future Agro Challenge. Those interested in attending GEW events can keep up-to-date on what’s going on for the week on both the GEW Germany site and through an e-magazine that featured GEW Germany this month.
There will also be a series of events focused on women in entrepreneurship. There will be two workshops on Nov. 15, to discuss financing and business planning, as well as women entrepreneurs with a migration background offered by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce in Leipzig. Another event, held on Nov. 17, will be a telephone hotline where women can call and ask questions about starting a business and becoming an entrepreneur. They will be able to talk to women entrepreneurs who are part of the initiative, “FRAUEN unternehmen,” that has been created by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy in 2014.
GEW Germany is working to energize young people to get excited about entrepreneurship, promote entrepreneurial skills and creative thinking, enable the exchange of ideas, experiences and opinions on ideation, creation and self-employment and to promote innovative business ideas and initiatives.
