Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) works to gather entrepreneurs around the world – bringing new audiences together and strengthening the connections of local ecosystems everywhere.

GEW 2021 will take place in more than 180 countries with over 20,000 partners, 40,000 activities and 10 million people worldwide. With this year's celebration on the horizon (Nov. 8-14, 2021), the GEW team will be sharing a weekly roundup of some of the amazing activities and events that are being planned and happening throughout GEW on every continent.

Through the GEW Weekly Roundup, you will find a collection of 'global picks' that explore each of the four themes for this year's celebration: Education, Ecosystems, Policy and Inclusion. Below is a look at a handful of recent press coverage. 

  • Odense to Hold Its Largest Entrepreneurship Festival in November
    (The Mayor Europe // Sweden)
    Odense prepares for their largest and most ambitious GEW celebration yet. The 2021 edition of Odense’s Global Entrepreneurship Week seeks to not only celebrate current business owners but also to create opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to receive guidance from and make connections with others.

  • US Department Of State Launches GIST Catalyst Virtual Pitch Competition 2021
    (Technology Times // Pakistan)
    GIST Catalyst offers young STEM entrepreneurs the opportunity to elevate their pitch and showcase their scale-up on a global stage, while receiving valuable mentorship from American entrepreneurs and academics who are leaders in the field of entrepreneurship. The program has helped innovators secure funding for their ventures, collaborate with the U.S. private sector and build new partnerships.
  • Seven of the Biggest Success Stories of Dragons’ Den
    (Business Live UK // United Kingdom)
    The Dragon's Den is now in its 18th series and has made household names for the dragon investors while launching hundreds of businesses, making millionaires along the way. One of the biggest show success stories is Levi Roots, Reggae singer and chef. He pitched his spicy Reggae Reggae Sauce to the Dragons’ and successfully managed to secure $50,000 to manufacture his product. Investment through the show helped him reach an estimated $30million this year. Roots spoke in Birmingham to kick off Global Entrepreneurship Week and is a clear ally to entrepreneurship education.
  • 20 Entrepreneurs to Receive Training in Micro and Small Business from DYBT
    (Dominica News Online // Dominica)
    Over 20 entrepreneurs  will receive training in micro and small business developing topics to further develop their knowledge-based skills to successfully run a small business. The winners will be given the opportunity to meet and shadow the entrepreneur which he or she wrote about during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
  • US Mission to Saudi Arabia Announces New Women’s Entrepreneurship Program
    (Atlantic Council // Saudi Arabia)
    IGNITE is a platform for Saudi women to harness their entrepreneurial energy. The new program will offer a series of workshops and networking events with both virtual and in-person components over the next six months, culminating in an online Saudi Women’s Entrepreneurship Summit during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
  • The Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame
    (New Mexico State University // New Mexico, USA)
    NMSU is looking for nominations for 'The Entrepreneur Hall of Fame,' an initiative to honor graduates who have launched successful businesses, introduced innovative entrepreneurial concepts and practices into workplaces and/or who have contributed to the entrepreneurial climates of their regions. Winner to be announced during GEW 2021.

  • Schools Take Part in Global Entrepreneurship Week
    (Tomorrow Success // Israel)
    Since 2010, the Entrepreneurship for Kids Program has taken an active role in celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week in Israeli schools.The goals of the week include exposing the youth to the concept of entrepreneurship and creating models to be applied in various sectors and situations.

  • Are You an Investor? Get Ready for the Going Public Series
    Going Public is a new interactive television series GEN is partnering on where you can 'Click-to-Invest' in featured deals while you watch. At the very center of what GEW represents is helping entrepreneurs unleash their ideas to grow their startups; so tune in with the GEW team while episodes air during Global Entrepreneurship Week.
  • Primary 6 Students Set to Master Business During GEW 2021
    (Ballymena & Antrim Times // County Antrim, Ireland)
    To kickstart GEW in Northern Ireland, primary six students across Mid and East Antrim are brushing up on business skills that could set them up for a future in entrepreneurship. The students will learn about key business concepts such as marketing through online resources and fun interactive tasks that will develop their creative and communication skills. 

  • GEW Event Series Set for 7-day, Hybrid Return 
    (Startland News // Kansas City, USA)
    GEW Kansas City, the metro’s largest annual celebration of entrepreneurship, is seeking event submissions from the community to help aspiring entrepreneurs and existing small business owners build their operations and be more resilient for the future. They are looking for prospective event hosts to submit events in five “tracks”: Startups, Scalers, Social Enterprise, Youth Entrepreneurship, and Inclusion and Entrepreneurship.

  • Student Competitors to Tackle Real-World Problems in Bermuda's GEW Campaign

    Students are invited to participate in a technology-focused 'Reverse Pitch Competition,' assisting companies with innovative technology solutions to real-life challenges. All solutions will be presented before a panel of judges as part of GEW in November, and the winning team will walk away with a school-based prize.
