This year’s Social Innovation Summit, a global gathering of innovators and thought leaders affecting social change, highlighted America’s New Business Plan for 2022 – the Kauffman Foundation's nonpartisan policy roadmap to provide increased access to the funding, opportunity, knowledge, and support entrepreneurs need across the United States. Kauffman’s Miles Sandler, director of policy and engagement, Public Affairs, led a conversation with Karen Freeman-Wilson, president and CEO of the Chicago Urban League, former Indiana attorney general, and former mayor of Gary, Indiana, and Christopher Cabaldon, former mayor of West Sacramento, California – both members of Kauffman’s Mayors’ Council. They discussed what local leaders can do to further equitable economic opportunities in their communities, increase entrepreneurs’ access to resources, knowledge and support, and disrupt the wealth gap for future generations.
