Transforming Cultural Ecosystems

The core aim of CHIEx is to transform the cultural landscape by offering essential resources such as information, education, and exchange opportunities. The project goes beyond local impact, striving for global influence by enhancing the competitiveness of cultural institutions and fostering international collaboration. Through this, CHIEx hopes to create a thriving and interconnected cultural ecosystem that supports the growth of the creative and cultural industries.

A key component of the project is empowering cultural leaders and strengthening the skills of those at the helm of institutions. CHIEx focuses on improving institutional management, enabling leaders to effectively leverage their resources, and ensuring the sustainability and growth of cultural centers. By enhancing leadership capabilities, the project supports the long-term success of these institutions and promotes regional and international collaboration.

Building Connections and Understanding Local Needs

To kick off the project, the organizing team worked closely with cultural institutions to identify the unique interests and priorities of their management teams. This process involved mapping their needs and aspirations, providing a deeper understanding of the specific challenges and opportunities faced by each institution. This personalized approach allows CHIEx to tailor its activities and ensure maximum impact.

Enhancing Competitiveness and Regional Cooperation

In today’s competitive cultural environment, CHIEx recognizes the importance of ensuring cultural institutions can effectively compete for resources, visitors, and support. To this end, the project offers consultation on optimizing the timing and relevance of programs and activities, helping beneficiary institutions increase their attractiveness at the local and national levels. By improving competitiveness, these centers are better equipped to thrive and ensure long-term sustainability.

Encouraging International Collaboration

One of the project’s central goals is to promote intercultural exchange and foster international collaboration. CHIEx facilitates the sharing of best practices between cultural institutions from different countries, encouraging the development of international partnerships and networks. This exchange of knowledge and resources not only enriches the participating institutions but also contributes to the broader cultural ecosystem, fostering innovation and cross-border cooperation.

Training and Exchange Opportunities

The CHIEx project includes both online and offline activities, with participants from cities in Moldova, Armenia, and Ukraine. Key EU4Culture host cities involved in the project are:

  • Moldova: Cahul and Orhei
  • Armenia: Ijevan, Charentsavan, Sevan
  • Ukraine: Odessa, Vinnitsa, Rivne

The project’s online activities consist of training sessions and matchmaking events, while offline activities include exchange visits and experience-sharing between participants in Armenia and Moldova. The training sessions cover vital topics such as:

  • Creating Community
  • Strategic Planning and Management
  • Communication for Creative Hubs
  • Finance for Creative Hubs

These sessions provided participants with invaluable networking opportunities, allowing them to connect with peers and cultivate new ideas for future collaborations.

Partnerships and Funding

The CHIEx project is implemented by GEN Moldova in partnership with Subculture Armenia and Startup Ukraine. It is funded by the European Union as part of the EU4Culture initiative, which is coordinated by the Goethe-Institut, Czech Centers, Danish Cultural Institute, and French Institute of Georgia.

Through its focus on education, collaboration, and competitiveness, the CHIEx project is helping shape the future of the cultural and creative sectors across the Eastern Partnership region, paving the way for sustainable growth and cross-border partnerships.
