GEN in Malta

The Global Entrepreneurship Network has maintained a continuous presence in Malta since 2008, operating through the Edward de Bono Institute at the University of Malta, which has served as the national host for Global Entrepreneurship Week from its inaugural year. Over more than fifteen years, the campaign has grown into a multi-event program encompassing business pitching competitions, ecosystem showcases, creativity workshops, and school outreach across Malta and Gozo, coordinated by Prof. Leonie Baldacchino. Malta's engagement has also extended to the policy level, with government officials attending the 2017 Startup Nations Summit in Tallinn and Minister Christian Cardona participating in the 2019 Startup Nations Ministerial in Bahrain. The relationship is underpinned by a broad network of academic, civic, and government partners — including Malta Enterprise, Trade Malta, and various business and innovation bodies — connecting Maltese entrepreneurs and educators to the wider global ecosystem.

Entrepreneurs Thrive Here: Global Entrepreneurship Week 2026

Millions of people around the world have the ideas, talent, and ambition to build something better for themselves and their communities — but have never seen entrepreneurship as a path available to them. Global Entrepreneurship Week, taking place November 16-22, 2026, changes that. This campaign meets people where they are and connects them to the networks, tools, and support to take that first step — showing what’s possible in their own communities.
