Entrepreneurship in Suriname: Opportunities and Challenges

Entrepreneurship in Suriname is rapidly developing, offering many opportunities but also facing challenges. New entrepreneurs often encounter a lack of funding options, limited access to mentorship, and insufficient knowledge about scaling their businesses. Initiatives like Startup Huddle Paramaribo are essential to address these challenges. By providing a platform where entrepreneurs can share their ideas, receive feedback, and connect with experienced professionals, we help them become stronger and more resilient.

It is crucial that startups receive not only financial support but also the right tools and guidance to build their businesses sustainably. This includes training in business strategy, digital marketing, financial management, and innovation. By offering these resources, we increase their chances of success and contribute to a more dynamic and resilient entrepreneurial climate in Suriname.

Manoushka Faria – MF Creations & Consultancy

Manoushka Faria spoke about the growth of her company, MF Creations & Consultancy, which she transformed from a virtual to a physical business. Her company focuses on creative and strategic solutions for clients, responding to changing market needs. Her goal is to expand her services to the region within five years and offer mobile services to better serve her clients.

Her entrepreneurial story highlighted the challenges startups face, such as attracting customers, building a brand, and managing financial constraints. Manoushka’s determination and perseverance served as an inspiration to many attendees, leading to a valuable discussion on the role of innovation and adaptability in entrepreneurship.

Quincy Kadosoe – Quincy’s Electronic

Quincy Kadosoe, CEO of Quincy’s Electronic, focused his presentation on an essential aspect of daily life: security. His company offers a wide range of electronic security solutions, including alarm systems, GPS trackers, electrical installations, and automatic gates. During his presentation, he demonstrated innovative camera technologies and showed how these technologies contribute to crime prevention and a safer living environment.

Quincy emphasized that technological advancement plays a crucial role in the security sector and that the demand for advanced security solutions continues to grow. His presentation sparked interesting questions about how Surinamese businesses and households can better utilize security technology to minimize risks.

The Role of the Ministry and Future Plans

The evening was opened by Karishma Mathoera, Director of the Directorate of Entrepreneurship, who spoke inspiringly about the ministry's role in supporting startups and small businesses. The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship, and Technological Innovation plays a significant role in promoting entrepreneurship in Suriname through policies, funding opportunities, and support programs.

With their support, this edition of Startup Huddle Paramaribo was successfully organized, and the ministry remains committed to creating a favorable entrepreneurial climate where startups can thrive.
