The Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) is proud to announce the official launch of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) Uganda 2025, marking the start of a national mobilization effort aimed at accelerating the country's economic transformation.

On September 19th, the Enterprise Uganda Centre of Excellence in Butabika, now the official home of GEW Uganda, became the epicenter of collaboration. The event, co-hosted by GEN Uganda and Enterprise Uganda, brought together over 80 key ecosystem players—from policymakers and investors to youth-led incubators—all rallied around the theme: “Together We Build – Fueling Uganda’s 10X Growth.” This launch was far more than an announcement; it was a strategic convocation that secured vital commitments for the nationwide celebration happening from November 17th–23rd, 2025.

Strategic Alignment: Catalyzing Uganda’s 10X Growth Vision

The timing of this year’s GEW could not be more critical. As Enterprise Uganda leadership highlighted during the keynote address, the event serves as a foundational platform for implementing the government’s ambitious Tenfold Growth Strategy and informing the priorities of the upcoming National Development Plan IV (NDP IV).

GEW 2025 is designed to address the core challenges outlined in the national agenda by fostering entrepreneurial readiness, digital transformation, and innovation-driven value addition. By connecting local innovators to a global network spanning over 200 countries, GEN Uganda ensures that the activities conducted in November are not isolated events, but integrated efforts contributing to a globally relevant, yet distinctly Ugandan, economic vision.

Our Managing Director, Mary Odongo, captured the spirit perfectly: "GEW is a global movement that connects innovators, creators, and change-makers. In Uganda, it’s the engine linking our entrepreneurial spirit directly to the national 10X growth platform."

The Power of Ecosystem Convergence: 50+ Commitments and the Centre of Excellence

The launch event’s most significant achievement was the overwhelming buy-in from the partner community. Through interactive sessions, including the real-time “QR Pledge Session” and dedicated breakout clinics focused on thematic areas like Youth Entrepreneurship and Access to Finance, over 30 partner organizations formally committed to hosting GEW activities.

This level of collective ownership is unprecedented and central to the success of GEW. Enterprise Uganda, as the national GEW convener, reinforced its commitment to offering technical support, co-branding opportunities, and coordination through its state-of-the-art Business Development Services (BDS) Centre of Excellence.

The Centre of Excellence, which hosted the entire event and provided a physical hub for brainstorming proposal development, is now recognized as the national headquarters for the GEW movement in Uganda. This solidifies a physical and institutional base for sustained support and collaboration, ensuring that the momentum generated during the launch continues throughout the year. As GEN Uganda Chairperson Sam Iga Zinunula remarked, "When each of us contributes a spark, we build a fire that lights up the entire entrepreneurial nation."
